As Witnessed

This is the first post from Wendy Errington for the 100 Word Challenge over at Julia’s Place. The prompt is in blue. Please pop over and read the rest!

And together the flames of the crowd put a fire in their bellies. They fought and they ran and they rowed and they cycled and they sailed. The furnace roared and burned all night. They forged and they carved and they moulded. Black ink on pages will not do justice to the flames licking and the sweat streaming.

Thunder rolled and hailstones snapped and cracked outside as I witnessed them fight, run, row, cycle, sail. And together the flames forged sixteen solid gold coins, strung on purple braid – adorned around the neck of swift gods. True, forever, burning bright!

  1. Tried to avoid the obvious link, but then couldn’t as I was watching Ben Ainslie sail!Inspired by DB’s opening ceremony too.
