Another entry from Ros Wilson for Week #6 of the 100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups. The prompt was …the sun shone but..
The challenge is to use the prompt and an additional 100 words ONLY to create a piece.
I adored my new partner. When he announced we were to visit family in Birmingham for the summer, my heart leapt. Could this be commitment? Wanting to be seen as sensible, I carefully selected sensible, city clothes for what was predicted to be a cool and wet month.
He had forgotten to mention it was Birmingham, Alabama! As I stepped off the plane, the full blast of 92 degrees hit me. My polo neck and heavy denims soon clung to me damply.
His relatives greeted me with open arms, the sun shone but I just wanted to strip off, cry or die.
Do pop over to ‘the Head’s Office’ and read some more contributions! Better still, have a go yourself!
