This piece is for Week #5 of the 100 Word Challenge over at the head’s Office. We were given this picture to inspire us.[[posterous-content:pid___0]]

I saw the steel works that would have produced the sculpture which over the years have all been closed.




It was his home but to the uninvited visitor it was hell.

The stench of the sulphur as it met the ore burnt the nostrils. The anger of the anvil as it fought to meld the metal created vibrations in all ear drums drowning out any thoughts or feelings.

The heat created a mirage above the factory distorting and curving any lines that dared be straight.

For him it was a place of beauty where creativity lived but for the powers that be it was a loss-making enterprise. Closure.

Despair was all that he had left.
